Banksy graffiti appears on Walthamstow fish and chip shop

The artwork, which appears on Bonner’s Fish Bar on Northcote Road shows two pelicans swallowing fish. It is the fifth piece of animal art he has sprayed on London buildings this week

Banksy is behind a fresh artwork on a Walthamstow fish and chip shop.

The artwork, which appears on Bonner’s Fish Bar on Northcote Road shows two large birds that look like pelicans swallowing fish. Most of the artwork is on the chip shop’s exterior wall, with one fish sprayed onto the shop’s front sign.

Local resident Jesenka Mujacic told the Echo she was a fan of the enigmatic street artist, commenting: “As every other Bansky art, this one is on point yet again.”

Bansky confirmed the artwork was his in a caption-less Instagram post this afternoon (1PM). It is the fifth in a series of animal artworks that he sprayed onto London buildings this past week.

They include elephants in Chelsea, monkeys in Shoreditch, and a howling wolf on a satellite dish in Peckham which was almost immediately stolen.

Reacting to the artwork before on Facebook this morning, Walthamstow MP Stella Creasy wrote: “Walthamstow. Where even our chippy is just a bit cooler than everyone else’s. Even if this isn’t a #banksy it’s brill and the chips there are magic so thank you to whoever added this bit of magic to our street art today.”

Anyone wanting to grab some fish and chips at Bonners Fish Bar will have to wait until September as the shop is closed for the summer holidays.
