A chef with experience working in a Michelin starred restaurant has begun a three month food residency at Renegade winery in Walthamstow.

Called Embers, the food residency is a project by long-term friends Graham Lewis and Ernesto Gabriel. Embers was inspired by Ernesto’s culinary adventures through Asia and the Americas, and by his experience working in top-rated restaurants.

Embers’ food offering is built around shared plates. Every Wednesday during the residency, foodies will get the chance to choose a plate accompanied by side or bite with a glass of wine for £25.

Eaters can opt from a varied menu selection that ranges from BBQ’d octopus with nectarine chutney, chilli & basil or flame grilled crumpet with braised leeks, wild mushrooms & stichelton, or a plate of lemon sole, grilled fennel, with mussel sauce.

Those with a taste for red meat can opt for pork chop with white cabbage and grilled apricot, or if meat isn’t to your taste, Embers offers coal-roasted Jersey Royals, miso & chives. Desserts include sour cream sponge, raspberry compote, orange curd & mint and chocolate mousse, with toasted black pepper marshmallow & blackcurrant.

The residency will be starting August 4th and ending in October and is open from 5pm to 10pm every Wednesday to Friday, and from 12pm to 10pm on Saturdays.
