The £60,000 grant by the Berkeley Foundation to Haven House Children’s Hospice will go towards ensuring it can continue to provide round-the-clock specialist care for babies, children and young people with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions

Haven House Children’s Hospice in Woodford Green has been given a £60,000 grant by the Berkeley Foundation to help provide round-the-clock specialist care for babies, children and young people with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions across north and east London.
The funding will support Haven House’s services through outreach care delivered in family homes and local communities. This includes day care, overnight respite, end of life care, bereavement support and a range of therapeutic activities designed to improve quality of life for children and their families.
The grant also helps ensure continued support for families previously cared for by Richard House Children’s Hospice, a long-standing Berkeley Foundation charity partner that closed in December 2025. Many of those children and families are now receiving care from the Haven House team.
Alongside the funding, Berkeley colleagues will have opportunities to volunteer throughout the year, supporting Haven House through gardening projects, retail volunteering and fundraising events.
Haven House provides specialist paediatric palliative care for hundreds of families, offering practical, emotional and clinical support from diagnosis through to end of life and bereavement. Its outreach services also enable families receive support in their own homes where appropriate, reducing the need for hospital visits and allowing children to spend more time with those closest to them.
Sally Dickinson, head of Berkeley Foundation, said: “Every child and family deserves compassionate care when they need it most. Haven House provides extraordinary support through some of life’s most challenging moments, helping children live as fully as possible while giving families the practical and emotional care they need.
“We are proud to support the hospice’s vital work and to continue our commitment to families who were previously supported by Richard House. Alongside this funding, we’re also pleased that Berkeley colleagues will be able to volunteer their time to support Haven House and the incredible team delivering these services every day.”
Kate Rosenthal from Haven House said: “This generous support from the Berkeley Foundation will make a meaningful difference to the children and families we care for. It will help us continue providing specialist care around the clock, both in the hospice and in the community, ensuring families receive the support they need at every stage of their journey.
“We are also delighted to welcome Berkeley volunteers, whose time and commitment will help us maintain welcoming spaces and deliver memorable experiences for the families we support.”
