St John’s Leytonstone will at 11am tomorrow (10th October) screen The People’s Emergency Briefing, a film revealing the scale of the threat that the climate crisis poses to humanity.

The People’s Emergency Briefing is a 50-minute public information film released on 7th April that brings expert evidence on the climate and nature crisis directly to local communities across the UK.

The People’s Emergency Briefing is based on the November 2025 National Emergency Briefing in Westminster (featured by ITV, Channel 4 and The Times), where leading scientists and experts presented evidence on climate breakdown to politicians and business leaders.

St. John’s Church is collaborating with Transition Leytonstone and Bushwood Area Residents’ Association in the organisation of the Leytonstone screening at 11am on Saturday 10th October.

Promoting the event in their newsletter, Transition Leytonstone said: “The climate risks are very broad in their scope: health, food systems, the economy are all impacted. Popular activist figures such as Chris Packham and Jennifer Saunders are featured, as well as reactions from members of the public.

“The film is designed to help audiences process this difficult information on a more human level. It delivers the frank facts about the threats, but also the enormous benefits if government leads genuine emergency action. Screenings are being held nationwide in local communities, churches, and workplaces to foster dialogue and encourage discussions with local MPs.”

Parents are asked to use their own judgement about whether it is suitable for their children. There will be a supervised area to the side of the screening where children can draw or take a break from the film, with paper, activity sheets and crayons provided. Children will remain the responsibility of their parent or carer.

Seats are free but limited, so guests are asked to book in advance.
