Chingford Leisure Centre celebrated its recent £170,000 refurbishment with a packed community open day and official ribbon cutting ceremony on Friday 22nd May.

The event was organised to showcase the centre’s new health and fitness offering, including a newly extended gym, refurbished changing facilities, upgraded lighting and refreshed branding.

A range of activities and engagement sessions took place during the event, including gym taster sessions, strength and conditioning and cardio masterclasses, table tennis activities in reception, as well as free health checks and advice.

Local councillors John Moss and Sam O’Connell attended the event, together with Jarlath Griffin, corporate director for neighbourhoods, and Nadeem Butt from Waltham Forest Council. Marco Coppola, GLL’s national health and fitness manager, delivered the opening speech and officially cut the ribbon as part of the ceremony.

Daniel O’Connor, GLL partnership manager, said: “Chingford Leisure Centre is now an excellent place for our community to train, grow and achieve its goals, so we were delighted to welcome so many local residents to experience the upgraded facilities first hand.

“I would like to thank everyone who attended and joined in the activities, making the day so special.”
