A Walthamstow-based drum & bass DJ and producer, Mozey, is attempting to break a world record for the fastest London Marathon run while DJing.

To meet official Guinness World Record requirements for the ‘Fastest marathon whilst DJ-ing’, Mozey will perform continuously throughout the marathon using a specially engineered, lightweight deck set-up, to ensure the performance is live and uninterrupted. Running the marathon in under 3 hours and 56 minutes is required to beat the current record.

Mozey has history as an ultra-marathon and Ironman runner, once having run four marathons in four weeks. However, this marathon attempt comes with the added challenge of balancing marathon training with life as a touring DJ and as a new dad. Mozey will be heading to the London Marathon starting line just hours after a sell-out headline show at the Troxy music venue in Limehouse on the 25th of April.

Mozey’ record attempt is in support of Make-A-Wish UK, a charity with significance to the DJ as a new father. The organisation grants life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses. Mozey is aiming to raise at least £5,000 for the charity.

Commenting on the challenge he said: “Supporting Make-A-Wish means a huge amount to me. Knowing this record attempt will raise funds for children going through incredibly tough times gives every mile a bigger purpose. Hopefully my set will also bring some fun and energy to the other runners, providing they are drum & bass fans!”

Alison Doidge, Mass Participation Events Manager at Make-A-Wish UK said: “Right now, over 134,000 children in the UK are dealing with the gruelling daily reality of life with a critical illness. Critical illness brings the joy of childhood to an abrupt end, but Make-A-Wish UK is part of a global movement that grants life-changing wishes that have the power to rescue the magic of childhood. With the generosity of the public and inspiring fundraisers like Mozey, we can continue to support families and grant more wishes, sooner.”

Mozey’s live marathon set will be curated to reflect the DJ’s journey across drum & bass, reflecting the artists and styles within the genre which have influenced and shaped his music. Fans will be encouraged to follow the set on Mozey’s social channels for live content.
