A Walthamstow artist is selling three decades worth of artwork at affordable prices from his art studio tomorrow (27th November).

Jason Hawkridge is hosting the art sale from his studio at the Mill Community Centre in Coppermill Lane from 6pm to 9pm.

Promising an art sale with a garden firepit, mulled wine, and sandwiches from nearby St James Kitchen, Jason is planning to shift a huge selection of work that he’s made over the years.

He told the Echo: “It’s hard to let go of the past, especially when it’s art you’ve made. But, I don’t have any more storage and these are some really lovely works that I’ve made and want to share with people.”

Jason’s work, which starts from £30 and goes up to £500, includes a collection of upcycled prints which evoke his love of diagrams and geometric shapes.

He said: “I’m never sitting still, so my art is probably a reflection of my ongoing energy. My work has always included a bit of geometry; I love lines and maths.”

Among his most colourful pieces include paintings of the Heliconia flower from Brazil, a striking, tropical flowering plant known for its bright and waxy bracts, which often resemble lobster claws, or parrot’s beaks.

He says the flower is a favourite because it reminds him of his half Brazilian son, whose birth gave his artistic career a new lease of life.

Meanwhile, his Sacred Wings collection of drawn insects like dragonflies, and butterflies is about “holding creatures dying from pesticides in higher regard”.

Commenting on his work style, he said: “They’re all unique prints, original, one-of-a-kind prints, no copies, and I really pride myself on making that kind of work for people.

“I’d make more money probably if I did [make multiple copies], but I don’t like the idea of having to keep reproducing stuff; if I really like a print then I’ll make something similar but it’s never the same one.”

The art sale is from 6pm to 9pm on Thursday, 27th November at The Mill Community Centre, 7-11 Coppermill Lane, E17 7HA
