Leytonstone and Wanstead Synagogue and Shri Vallabhnidhi Sanatan temple near Whipps Cross will be open to whoever wants to find out more about Judaism or Hinduism this weekend

A Leytonstone synagogue and a Hindu temple will open their doors for community understanding events as part of Waltham Forest Council’s Interfaith Week tomorrow (15th November) and Sunday (16th November).
This year’s Interfaith Week began on Sunday 9th November and has so far seen a programme of events organised by local faith organisations and venues, to encourage and deepen understanding between the different religious communities in Waltham Forest.
All events are free to attend and open to people of all faiths and backgrounds. Events this week included an Islamic arts exhibition, an interactive prayer experience at All Saints Church in Highams Park, and a free interfaith supper at Harmony Hall in Walthamstow.
Interfaith Week is supported by the council’s culture team’s Fellowship Fund, through a collaboration grant awarded to Stow Inspire to coordinate a group of partners to host events and activities and a small grant to Women’s Interfaith Network for their event.
As part of the week, Shri Vallabhnidhi Sanatan temple in Leytonstone will be open tomorrow (15th November) from 9am to 12.30pm for visitors and priest Shri Kalpesh Pandit Ji will be happy to answer any religious questions.
Meanwhile, residents will be able to visit Leytonstone and Wanstead Synagogue on Sunday 16th November from 2pm to 3pm. They will get a guided open house tour, explore the building which was originally opened in 1954 as a community and youth centre and consecrated as a synagogue in 1964 to accommodate the growing local Jewish community.
Advance booking is required for the synagogue tour. Please contact the synagogue to reserve your spot on phone, 07434 631 948 or email: [email protected]
