Blackhorse Road brewery Pretty Decent Beer Co. is opening a brand-new kitchen at its Forest Gate taproom in Sheridan Road this December, teaming up with local pizzeria Papi’s Munchies to serve stonebaked sourdough pizza slices.

The kitchen officially launches on Friday 5th December from 6pm, with Papi’s offering 100 free slices – classic Margherita, Marinara, and Pepperoni – to 9pm, or until they sell-out.

Papi’s Munchies have built a loyal following across East London for their Neapolitan-style sourdough pizzas. In the Echo, food writer Pallavi Singh handed them a glowing review, stating they had “hands down, the best pizza in the borough”.

Pretty Decent Co. says the menu will be regularly refreshed with new riffs on classic toppings, while Papi’s will also host occasional one-off nights featuring Detroit-style pizzas – made on their signature sourdough base and baked in rectangular trays for a crisp crust that stays soft and springy in the middle.

All pizzas can be paired with Pretty Decent’s core beers, including their award-winning 4.5% Session IPA, I Could Get Better At T*sco For A Quid (a tribute to one of PDBC’s Google reviews).

Sarah Casey, Pretty Decent Co-Founder, says: “Simona and the team share our vision of creating a community space where you can get great beer and great pizza – and they couldn’t be nicer people – so we’re hyped to be partnering with such a solid local brand! We’ve eaten a lot of Papi’s Munchies’ pizza over the years and can’t wait to have them serving alongside us in Forest Gate.”

“We’re absolutely thrilled to be teaming up with Pretty Decent Beer Co. We’ve always loved their beers, their branding, and their whole approach to community and quality – it just feels like the perfect match,” adds Simona.

Pretty Decent’s newly refurbished Forest Gate taproom, housed in a railway arch, will host the new Papi’s Munchies kitchen in the adjoining arch. Pizzas will be served from an external hatch and can be eaten in the taproom or taken away to pair with Pretty Decent’s cans at home.

To celebrate the launch, the two teams have also created a house special, inspired by their favourite flavours and perfectly paired with Pretty Decent’s beer – set to be revealed on the opening weekend.

You can find Pretty Decent Beer Co at 340 Sheridan Road, E7 9EF
