Do you have a growing pile of things that you keep meaning to repair but just can’t find the time? If your pile includes toys, textiles, bikes or household electricals, why not bring them to The Reuse and Repair Fair at Lea Bridge Library on Sunday 6th July from 12 to 4pm.

You’ll meet a host of skilled repairers ready to help you work out what’s repairable, how to do it and, in many cases, get the fix done there and then.

On 6th July, the repairers will include Play It Again Toys who are using puppet making know-how to fix damaged toys, Make Do and Wonder for your clothing repairs, Cycle Confident who run Dr Bike, and the skilled volunteers from Forest Fixers who thrive on making household electricals work again.

Why not inspire your inner upcycler creating carnival accessories for Leyton Más or see plastic bottles being re-used for 3D printing with The Fixatorium?

You’ll also be able to help your unwanted stuff find a new home with the popular Give and Take, Forest Recycling Project and Walthamstow Toy Library.

So far there’s been ten Reuse and Repair events since March 2024, involving 80 Waltham Forest businesses, organisations and community initiatives, resulting in over four tons repaired, repurposed or taken for reuse.

Councillor Clyde Loakes MBE, deputy leader and cabinet member for climate and air quality said: “Our repair fairs are a great example of what we can achieve when we work together as a community and I encourage everyone to come along!

“We have an ambitious commitment to supporting residents to reuse, repair, and repurpose wherever possible and avoid a throw-away culture, which is ultimately all about supporting climate action in our borough and working towards net zero.”
