Oscar nominee John C. Reilly will play the UK premiere of his musical comedy show Mister Romantic at Soho Theatre Walthamstow on 18th November.

The one-man vaudeville show, which has garnered stateside critical acclaim from the New York Times and Vanity Fair, sees John C. Reilly perform songs from the American songbook while backed by a multiple-Grammy Award-winning band.

Soho Theatre add that during the “fiercely funny” show he will interact with the audience in “sometimes funny, sometimes tender, sometimes sad, but always meaningful ways”.

The prolific American actor, whose career spans over three decades across film, television and theatre, is known for his comedy work in Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story (2007) or Step Brothers (2008), as well as his dramatic roles working with directors including Martin Scorsese. He was nominated for an Academy Award for his role as Amos Hart in Chicago (2002).

Meanwhile, Soho Theatre Walthamstow also announced today that it will host the limited 2026 revival run of Haley McGee’s Olivier-nominated play Age Is A Feeling, from 5th to 7th March, following a sold out and critically-acclaimed run at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

The show charts the seminal moments, rites of passage and turning points in an adult life from the age of 25 through to death. Every performance, the audience chooses six from twelve stories, as part of the lifespan that unfolds across the show. The remaining stories are left untouched in order to show the “glorious and melancholy unknowability of human life”, Soho Theatre said in its promotional material.

Mister Romantic will play at Soho Theatre Walthamstow on Tuesday 18th November at 8pm. Book tickets (from £49 excluding concessions) here
