The American pretzel chain Auntie Anne’s will open their second Walthamstow store this Saturday (7th September).

The chain, who already operate a store in Hoe Street, will open their new location at 17&Central shopping centre with a free pretzel giveaway between 11am-1pm.

The store say only one free original or cinnamon pretzel will be handed out per person while stocks last. The store sells pretzels, pretzel nuggets, pretzel dogs (hot dogs wrapped in their signature soft pretzel dough), and pizza bakes – each sold for under £6.

Auntie Anne’s have 38 stores across the UK, with the chain saying they plan to open six further stores this year. They opened their first store in Cheltenham in 2003, and their Hoe Street branch in June this year.

The pretzel chain was founded in 1988 in Pennsylvania by Anne Beiler, who has Amish roots. The brand started as a simple farmer’s market stand in her local town, and was originally started to support her husband’s dream of opening a counselling center for their community.

Max Burton, managing director of Auntie Anne’s UK and Ireland: “We are extremely proud to be in a phase of incredible growth with a vibrant updated look, world-class marketing campaigns, and a strategy to open 100 new stores by 2034.”

Burton added: “Our sales continue to rise annually, reflecting growing demand and love for our product. This exciting journey is an opportunity to introduce more people to the experience of an Auntie Anne’s pretzel – handcrafted and freshly baked, using only high-quality, natural ingredients, with a commitment to exceptional taste.”
