Fulbourne Road was closed yesterday afternoon as two fire engines tackled a house fire

A busy road in Walthamstow was shut for close to an hour yesterday afternoon as ten firefighters tackled a fire that damaged a first-floor bedroom in a terraced house.
Firefighters were first called to the property at 3.49pm, and the incident was under control by 4.11pm.
Two people left the property before a crew from Walthamstow Fire Station arrived, and were assessed by paramedics for smoke inhalation. A spokesperson for the London Ambulance Service said they declined aid.
In a post on X/Twitter at around 4.30pm, Waltham Forest Council informed locals of the “full closure” of Fulbourne Road due to an ongoing fire. The post also urged people to “avoid the area if possible”.
The closure of the road meant the 212 and W16 bus routes were temporarily diverted. The road was reopened before 5pm.
A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called at 3.52pm on Sunday 7th July to reports of an incident in Fulbourne Road, E17.
“We sent resources to the scene, including an ambulance crew, incident response officer, members of our Hazardous Area Response Team and a paramedic in a fast response car.”
Just over a week ago, eight fire engines and around 60 firefighters put out a huge fire at a mid-terraced house on Osborne Grove, near the Sainsburys on Walthamstow High Street.
The fire destroyed the roof of a residential property. No injuries were reported and an investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing.
