Those selected for the panel on Vestry House Museum will be paid £25 for every meeting they attend

A panel of up to 12 Waltham Forest residents will help “shape the future” of Vestry House Museum ahead of a £4.4million revamp.
Waltham Forest Council wants to “revitalise” the museum in Walthamstow Village so it can begin to turn a profit and is accepting applications to join a “community advisory panel” to advise on its plans.
Currently the museum costs the council about £18 per visitor each year and houses an extensive archive, which takes up approximately a third of the building. This archive will be moved elsewhere in the borough so space in the building can be rented out.
Residents who want to help “shape the future of the museum and archives” have until 17th April to apply to join the panel.
On their website, Waltham Forest Council states: “The aim is to establish a diverse group of up to 12 individuals from across the borough, who represent a wide range of interests, ambitions and backgrounds.”
They add that applicants should be “confident communicators”, have an interest in “local history, heritage, arts or culture” and be able to commit to at least four two-hour meetings a year.
They will be paid £25 for each meeting they attend, in addition to travel or childcare expenses.
The website adds: “We anticipate being able to contact applicants by the end of April, to confirm whether they have been successful. The first meeting will be held towards the end of May.”
Residents – or those with “close links” to the borough – can apply online here.
Send any questions to [email protected] by 12th April.
