The ongoing suspension of all services between South Tottenham and Barking has caused significant disruption to commuters, with it being close to two weeks now since a freight train derailed near Barking

No Suffragette Line trains will stop at Waltham Forest stations until Tuesday 10th November as Network Rail conducts repairs on the line near Barking.
The ongoing suspension of all services between South Tottenham and Barking has caused significant disruption to commuters, close to two weeks after a freight train derailed near Barking.
According to train operator c2c, the repairs are “complex”, with around 1.2km of track requiring replacement. Due to the severity of the damage, some parts of the railway need to be completely rebuilt.
Affected Waltham Forest stations are Blackhorse Road, Walthamstow Queens Road, Leyton Midland Road and Leytonstone High Road.

Martin Beable, chief operating officer for GBR Anglia, said: “The derailed train has been removed from the site, which has allowed our engineers to carry out detailed inspections of the damage and begin planning the extensive repairs needed to restore the railway.
“Unfortunately, due to the scale of the repairs required, we now expect disruption to continue until at least the week beginning 9th November, and remain committed to working with bodies across the industry as investigations continue.
“This remains a complex recovery operation due to the extensive damage caused to signalling equipment, cabling and around 1.2km of track.
“Much of the infrastructure cannot simply be repaired and must be completely rebuilt. This is a major undertaking, and our teams need the time to carry out the work safely and properly.
“We’re sorry for the ongoing disruption, and we will continue to keep customers updated as the recovery continues.”
A Transport for London (TfL) spokesperson said: “We apologise to any Suffragette line customers whose journeys are impacted following the derailment of a freight train near Barking.
“Disruption is expected to continue throughout this week, although timescales may change due to the complexity of the repairs.
“Customers are advised to allow extra time for their journeys and check before they travel for the latest information using TfL Journey Planner or the TfL Go app.”
