Greggs’ Blackhorse Road store has been renamed KANES

Ahead of Saturday’s World Cup quarter-final match against Norway, Greggs transformed its Blackhorse Road shop to ‘KANES’ in tribute to local hero Harry Kane, who was born in Leytonstone and grew up in Chingford.
The Blackhorse View shop closed as normal on Friday evening (10th July) before being substituted overnight into full England kit, reopening its doors as ‘KANES’ first thing on Saturday morning (11th July).
The shop was due to revert back to familiar Greggs branding on Sunday, however bosses called extra time on the transformation as the England team were able to find the back of the net once again, extending England’s tournament run.
Lynette Powell, shift manager at Greggs, Blackhorse View, said: “It’s fantastic to be able to celebrate a local lad who’s gone on to become one of the biggest names in football. Harry’s achievements have given local people plenty to be proud of over the years, and we’re delighted to be part of marking this special moment. We’re used to serving local favourites at Greggs, but this is definitely the first time we’ve had one named above the door!”
The Blackhorse View (Forest Road, E17 6HW) shop is open from 6am to 7pm, inviting local customers to stop by, take photos, and show support for England.
