You’ll be able to have household items repaired, electronics fixed, and pick up bargain pre-loved clothing at the fair on Saturday 30th November
The Reuse and Repair Fair is landing in Walthamstow’s Big Creative Academy next Saturday (30th November) with a packed programme of repair, reuse and refashion workshops and events.
Aimed at anyone looking to extend the life of their everyday essentials, track down second hand stocking fillers, or update their wardrobe, the Reuse and Repair Fair say there is “something for everyone” next weekend.
It’s the fourth version of the free to attend fair, with its previous three iterations having platformed a total of 50 community initiatives, run 28 workshops for 900 people, all while diverting 2.34 tonnes from the landfill.
The fair, on 30th November, from 12pm – 4pm in the Big Creative Academy, includes “free give and takes” from the Forest Recycling Project, and the Walthamstow Toy Library.
The Re-Loved Club will also be selling pre-loved clothing and accessories at bargain prices, with Merveille Nzuzui of tailors No One Famous on hand to make alterations to garments so they fit customers.
Forest Fixers’ Repair Cafe will also be accepting broken household electricals to be repaired on a first come, first served basis. Last items will be accepted at 3pm, depending on repairers availability.
Meanwhile, there will also be a drop-in festive tree decoration workshop, open to anyone aged eight and above.
The experienced sewing skills of the Marsh Quilters will be on display as they demonstrate how to make a quilt from cotton shirtings, while Big Creative second year T-Level fashion students will repurpose outfits under the guidance of industry designer Penelope Tucker.
Artillery CIC has been commissioned by Waltham Forest Council’s Climate Emergency Team to produce four Reuse and Repair Fairs in 2024.
The Reuse and Repair Fairs are produced by Artillery CIC in partnership with Waltham Forest Council, Forest Recycling Project, Forest Fixers, Leytonstone Toy Library and Waltham Forest Fashion.
The Reuse and Repair Fair will be in the Big Creative Academy, Clifton Avenue, E17 6HL, from 12pm – 4pm on Saturday 30th November
