Walthamstow creative, Revell Dixon, has been selected as a new associate artist by disabled-led arts organisation Disability Arts Online (DAO).

Revell Dixon is a digital content producer, specialising in documentary film and video editing. His work is informed by his experiences with speech and language difficulties, and he is driven by representing the voices of disabled people.

DAO’s associate artist programme offers disabled artists a year of tailored development support, as well as seed funding towards a larger project. Since launching in 2018, it has supported nine disabled artists.

Dixon will create a series of filmed interviews with disabled and neurodivergent artists through his associateship. These will be released as episodes throughout the year.

Dixon said: “I am thrilled and excited to be an associate artist for Disability Arts Online in 2024.

“I am excited to be meeting various artists to explore more about their practice and discover the biggest challenges that they face in their careers as well as learn about their process when it comes to creating new work.”

The chief executive of Disability Arts Online, Trish Wheatley said: “Our associates programme is a standout part of what we do at Disability Arts Online. The DAO team is really excited by the prospect of seeing the creative projects grow and we are looking forward to supporting Revell and the other talented associates in their development.”
