Residents at The Chain hosted their first summer party on Sunday 4th August, writes Rana Rastegari

The newest eco-scheme in Walthamstow hosted its first summer party on Sunday 4th August. Hosted by L&Q residents, the new build development, The Chain, was transformed into a space where the community enjoyed lively music, food and entertainment for the whole day.
The Chain is a new 518-home neighbourhood developed by L&Q. It is part of the borough’s ‘Mini Holland’ scheme which is designed to promote sustainable and safe transport via cycle ways.
The development is car free and also has a community park. 51% of the new homes have been classified as affordable as the Chain provides housing for people living and working in the borough.

Over 80 people gathered to enjoy the vibrant activities which catered to all ages. Children participated in Olympic-style races and dog owners showed off their pets in a Crufts-inspired competition.
The food available at the event was the highlight for many community members present, as it was a melting pot of all the cultures in the community. The dishes reflected the diversity of Walthamstow and guests sampled meals from around the world.
The day ended with a prize-giving ceremony to celebrate the winners of the competitions.
