On June 7th, Big Penny Social on Blackhorse Road was transformed into the annual sandy beach resort called Walthamstow-on-Sea.

The grand return of the event will allow Waltham Forest residents to enjoy a taste of the seaside without leaving London.

Open every Friday to Sunday from 10am – 7pm, the resort is complete with deckchairs, beach huts and a beach bar where guests can relax with a refreshing drink as well as a selection of pizzas, fish and chips and ice cream. Beach goers will be able to rent out a hut with a private table and chairs that hosts up to four people.

Big Penny Square is a large events venue that doubles as a pub, art centre and town square. With a total capacity of 1,400, the venue hosts the Walthamstow-on-Sea beach resort every year, allowing families and children to spend a summer at the beach in Walthamstow.

Outside of opening times, the beach is available for hire for private events. The venue offers a range of services such as a DJ, a magician and laser tag. From June 16th, the venue will have big screens in the hall and garden where families can watch the Euros 2024 football matches alongside a live band and a DJ.
