New taproom set for Walthamstow’s 17&Central

Pretty Decent Beer Co is offering a free first pint at the taproom’s launch event on Thursday 11th April

An independent brewery is opening a new taproom in Walthamstow’s 17&Central shopping centre next Thursday.

Pretty Decent Beer Co, who brew locally on Blackhorse Road are set to open ‘Pretty Decent & Friends’ at the new CRATE food court on 11th April.

The taproom will open its doors with a launch party on Thursday 11th April from 6-9pm. Guests will be greeted with a free pint on arrival, small bites, a live DJ and a complimentary ‘locals card’ that gives a 10% lifetime discount at all Pretty Decent venues while pints will be priced at £4 all night.

The new Pretty Decent venue will boast 10 constantly changing taps of fresh craft beer and feature weekly special releases and core favourites such as ‘I Could Get Better At T*sco For a Quid’, a 4.5% Session IPA that pays homage to an early Google review of the brewery.

Pretty Decent Beer co-founder Sarah Casey said: “We’re super excited to be opening our third venue in the heart of Waltham Forest. The brewery has grown up here and the local community has played such a central part in getting us to where we are today. The name speaks to the fact that we’ll be working closely with some incredible street food vendors to create a community spot where you can come and hang out with your pals.”

As well as serve craft beers, Pretty Decent will use the bar and events space as a platform to showcase local businesses, and have a regular programme of events, including drinks tastings (such as its popular crisp and beer pairing), supper clubs, and workshops.

The brewery plans to collaborate closely with 17&Central’s street food vendors through tailor-made beer pairings for food menu items, and, in a bid to reduce carbon emissions, freshly brewed beers will be transported from the Blackhorse Lane brewery to the new 17&Central taproom by bicycle.

It will be open 12-9pm on Mondays to Thursdays, and 12pm-10.30pm on Fridays and Saturdays. Locals seeking a Sunday pint are welcome from 12pm-7pm.

Co-founder James Casey adds: “We’re a brewery born and raised in Waltham Forest, and as local residents here also Sarah and I think that the investment in this area is so important for the community – so we are thrilled at the chance to ensure it acts as a platform for independent, locally made produce – we look forward to partnering with amazing food producers already there.

And we’re going to have some fun with it – so watch this space for plenty of fresh beer, food pairings, karaoke, happy hour and a general taste of Retail High Life!”

As well as a shared brewery and taproom space in Blackhorse Road, Pretty Decent operate a taproom in on Sheridan Road in Forest Gate.
