A community food network is launched a festival to bring together “more than 100 of the UK’s top independent producers” for a market that incorporates food workshops, tastings and talks.

Nourished Communities Food Festival, organised by Nourished Communities, is due to take place on Sunday, 2nd July at Big Penny Social in Walthamstow, where there is capacity of 4,000 people. Attendees will have the chance to participate in a variety of workshops, including kefir (fermented milk) making, cheese and British cider tasting, DIY repairs and more.

Nourished Communities claims the festival “celebrates the passion and creativity of independent producers and growers, providing a platform for them to showcase their finest products and share their expertise”.

Tastings will be available from cult hot sauce maker The Rib Man, burger makers Four Legs, industry changing Bold Bean Co, Clapton-based My Neighbour the Dumplings and The Tomato Stall from the Isle of Wight.

Rollo Millership, founder of Nourished Communities and festival organiser, said: “We are thrilled to be launching the Nourished Communities Food Festival, which is all about celebrating the very best in independent produce and growers.

“We believe that food should bring communities together and we can’t wait to showcase the amazing talent that’s out there.”

London-born Rollo founded Nourished Communities when the pandemic hit, to support passionate producers that relied on farmers markets to sell direct to their customers. The first Nourished Communities store was in Islington and two more have since opened, in Finsbury Park and in Blackhorse Lane, Walthamstow.

Tickets for the Nourished Communities Food Festival, taking place from 11am-6pm on 2nd July at Big Penny Social, are now on sale for £3:
