Sydney Piper, a 69-year-old from Walthamstow, went missing in February
A Walthamstow pensioner who went missing in February has tragically been found dead.
Sydney Piper was last seen in Chingford Road at around noon on 23rd February and disappeared with no money or Oyster card.
His family said his disappearance was out of character and police repeatedly appealed for the public to check in sheds or overgrown areas and to be alert in Epping Forest, as they believed he could be living outside.
On 24th March, a body was found in a wooded area near the Waterworks Roundabout in Woodford New Road. DNA tests have since confirmed it is Sydney.
A post-mortem that took place on 30th March suggests his death is not suspicious but it is currently being treated as “unexplained”.
Sydney’s family have been informed.
