As many as 9,900 Waltham Forest homes could be eligible to receive thousands of pounds in grants from the Mayor of London’s “Warmer Homes” fund.

The £43m programme will distribute grants from £5,000 to £25,000 to low-income households looking to make their homes cheaper and greener to heat.

Mayor of London Sadiq Khan is urging local homeowners and private renters living in poorly-insulated homes to check if they eligible to apply.

The money is intended to pay for insulation, heat pumps, draughtproofing, solar panels and heating system improvement or repairs.

Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, said: “No one should be wondering whether they will be able to heat their home or keep the lights on.

“Bills could rise to £4,347 come April so I’m urging those eligible to apply for my Warmer Homes programme, which will help low-income households make their homes warmer, greener and cheaper to run.

“I’ll keep doing all I can to support Londoners through this crisis, but I know my efforts alone will not be enough. The Government must help Londoners weather this storm, however long it lasts, and introduce a ‘Lifeline Tariff’ to support those most in need.”

Also available is a Warmer Homes Advice Service, which provides fuel poverty advice and referrals and has supported over 14,700 households in London to date.
