Walthamstow FC’s reserves won the Essex Senior Cup last night in a 2-1 victory against FC Baresi at Brisbane Road.

An electric first-half saw Walthamstow reserve Issa Idibe score the opening goal twelve minutes in, before Marvin Hamilton-Omole snuck a leveller through the goalposts ten minutes later for FC Baresi.

Then, just five minutes later, Walthamstow’s Matthew McDowell slotted the team’s second and winning goal.

Celebrating the victory on X/Twitter last night, Walthamstow FC said: “These boys were absolute LIONS this evening. Up against a team who’d only lost once all season. A team with step 3 and 4 players. A team with internationals! The young Stow boys put in a shift like never before. Ten minutes of added time couldn’t beat them.”
