The launch of the pop-in Fridays was on ‘World Environment Day’ in June – a people’s day for doing something positive for the environment.
This year’s theme for Environment Day was ‘Consume with Care’ and visitors to ItDoesTheJob.com’s headquarters in Leytonstone were treated to a whole range of energy and money saving tips over a cup of tea and homemade biscuits and cakes – all with the compliments of Dee Wood, Managing Director.
Dee, who is only 25, is passionate about sustainable living and wants to encourage everyone to take a few small steps towards a lower energy lifestyle: “Why wouldn’t anyone want to look at ways to save money on their household or office bills. I want to show that it’s not a complicated process – just a few simple changes can make a big difference.”
ItDoesTheJob.com’s office is in Carlton House, built in 1735, was originally part of a terrace of three houses, just off Leytonstone High Road.
It is designated Grade II listed because if its’ historic architectural features and range of original interior fittings.
Since moving into the property 20 year ago, ItDoesTheJob.com have undertaken a skilful transformation of Carlton House, whereby the original fabric of the building and interior fittings have been expertly preserved – whilst energy-saving applications have been fitted throughout the house and exterior areas.
The project is living testament to adaptability and how new ideas and initiatives work in harmony with history and preservation. The result is a beautifully restored Georgian House that is energy-efficient and costs a lot less to run.
The vibrant e-commerce business is dedicated to providing lifestyle products that save money and energy.
Their philosophy is to provide practical solutions to help reduce energy consumption at work and at home – and their aim is to demonstrate how natural and manageable it is for consumers to ‘rethink’ their utility aesthetics – and save money!
‘First Fridays’ take place on the first Friday of every month at Carlton House and are free drop in sessions between 10am and 12pm with refreshments. Dee takes visitors through a range of tips, ideas, suggestions and advice followed by a Q&A session.
There is no need to book to attend a session – just turn up. There’s plenty of room for bike parking.
