Leytonstone is allegedly one of the cheapest London neighbourhoods to rent in, according to rental website SpareRoom.

The website averaged London rents offered on its site from 1st April to 30th June and found E11, which covers Leytonstone and part of Redbridge, was one of the cheapest postcodes.

The average asking rent for a room in E11, according to the site, was £588 a month, compared to a London-wide average of more than £700 a month.

Their cheapest neighbourhood in London was Abbey Wood in Greenwich and Bexley, with an average monthly rent of £531.

Other, even cheaper, east London areas in the top ten were East Ham, Manor Park, Forest Gate and Plaistow – all in Newham.

SpareRoom’s director, Matt Hutchinson, claims the site is “now seeing demand for London room rentals outpacing supply”, after a dip in rents during Covid-19.
