Dan Carney invites Walthamstow to party all day and night for charity
With ‘Dry January’ now a tedious memory, it’s time to start thinking about leaving the house in search of fun, excitement, and repetitive beats. Ravenswood for Eat or Heat 2018 will ensure you won’t have to go far!
The second incarnation of the all-day DJ festival, in aid of local foodbank Eat or Heat, is a joint effort from local music promoters Byrd Out and These Days. It follows last year’s highly successful inaugural event, which raised more than £4,000 for the charity.
Ravenswood for Eat or Heat 2018 takes place on Saturday 17th February across four venues on the Ravenswood Industrial Estate; Wildcard, Pillars, Mother’s Ruin Gin Palace, and Ravenswood’s newest addition, The Real Al Company cider taproom.
The line-up so far sees established names such as Simian Mobile Disco, drum’n’bass legend Nicky Blackmarket, Anna Prior from Metronomy, Reggae Roast, and Flamingods rub shoulders with faces from the steadily expanding local music scene such as the Eastern Front Soundsystem, Kat Richmond (Electronic 17), Vital Sound, and General Echo.
Byrd Out’s Stephen Vitkovitch said: “Last year was a huge success, and the atmosphere was electric, particularly with the legendary Fabio closing. This year we wanted the day to be even bigger, and with The Real Al involved too, and Simian Mobile Disco headlining, it’s looking good!”
The event – which follows the last Byrd Out/These Days collaboration Walthamstow Electronic – is being supported by local businesses such as Stow Brothers, Sodo, and Perky Blenders, as well as Waltham Forest Council, and the LVE Charitable Foundation.
Entry to all venues will be free, although there will be donation buckets at the event. Alternatively, you can donate online.
