The people behind SHE Choir say that if you can sing in the shower you can sing in a choir. It’s a bold claim that could get you into trouble but they put on an irreverent, dynamic and skilfully anarchic show to prove it.

The Choir is unauditioned and open to all female singers. Pop tunes are refreshingly arranged – dusted with just enough irony, and delivered with an eye for technical flair that keeps a rowdy Leyton Technical pub crowd silent through a mostly acapella performance.

Grandma’s Hands and No Diggity are unaccompanied highlights which show SHE at their best – inviting participation from a crowd that only needs telling once but as SHE team up with a band to finish the show the sound gets bigger and brasher.

It all ends on a high with the herd of pubgoers duly pacified but I would have liked to have stayed for some more of SHE’s technical and skilful acapella mastery.

Maybe we should have a lock-in next time.
